Arnerich Massena’s FOOD FIGHT summer camp is underway, and the students are getting a taste of Portland’s food offerings. Last week, the campers were visited daily by Portland-area chefs, each of whom taught the kids how to make a healthy meal, guiding them through the steps to create their own culinary delights. Proposed DOL Fiduciary Rule May Be Denied Funding
In April, the Department of Labor proposed a new rule to reduce conflicts of interest among retirement plan advice providers. The new rule would expand the definition of fiduciary and limit the exemptions from the fiduciary standard, with both changes aimed at making sure that retirement plan investment professionals are providing advice based solely on their clients’ best interests.
However, a new House bill introduced in June may halt the DOL’s proposal in its tracks by refusing to fund the new regulation. Read more
Arnerich Massena’s FOOD FIGHT Cooking Camp Set to Begin
FOOD FIGHT is the Arnerich Massena I AM Learning Partnership’s year-long service learning project to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the program. The whole project is designed to help kids learn about food insecurity and what can be done to reduce the impacts of food insecurity in the community.
