We are pleased to announce that Bryan Shipley, CFA, CAIA, has been named co-CEO alongside Tony Arnerich. The firm transitioned several years ago to an employee-owned structure in order to implement a long-term strategy to develop the next generation of leaders who can carry forward the values and ideals of the firm, and this is the next stage of that process. As co-CEOs, Tony and Bryan will work together to build continuity in the firm’s long-term strategy and guide the firm into the future.
“Bryan’s demonstrated skills as a thoughtful leader and deeply knowledgeable investment professional ensure that he will bring the competence and expertise needed to guide the company forward,” says Tony Arnerich, founder, co-CEO, and co-CIO. “He has played a central role in the development of both the firm’s investment strategy and business strategy, and I have every confidence that Bryan will continue to ensure that our clients receive the level of service, innovation, and stewardship that they have come to expect from Arnerich Massena over the past 30 years. I’m very proud to work with Bryan; this is really an expression and formalization of a partnership we’ve been building for years.”
Shipley comments, “Since joining Arnerich Massena in 2003, I have been impressed with the firm’s investment philosophy — the company’s dedication to conducting world-class research and commitment to impact investing. I have been proud to be an advocate and spokesperson for those values as co-CIO, and am excited to continue to build on this work as co-CEO. I look forward to continuing to deliver independence, integrity, and passion as we serve our clients going forward.”
Bryan has been with Arnerich Massena for more than 15 years, and has served for the past three years as the firm’s co-Chief Investment Officer. He is a principal of the firm and currently sits on the firm’s Board of Directors. He previously served as a senior research analyst and head of the firm’s traditional and real asset research. He has more than 20 years of experience in the investment industry, having formerly served as an associate for Wurts & Associates (now Verus), where he conducted traditional and alternative investment manager research and due diligence. Mr. Shipley holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a concentration in finance from Western Washington University. He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of Portland. He also holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation. Read his complete biography here.
Both co-CEOs note the importance of having the right team in place as the firm shapes its strategy for the future: “We are pleased and fortunate to have a remarkable group of seasoned, tenured professionals in our principal group, and proud of the work being done to mentor and elevate leaders at all levels in the firm. It is exciting to look out over the long term as we commit to working together to continue to bring our clients the unbiased investment advice, top-tier investment opportunities, and concierge service that have made the firm successful for nearly 30 years.”
