How can private equity support your portfolio goals, and how can you build a thoughtful, long-term strategy? Private Equity: Why, What, How? The Role of Private Equity in a Portfolio brought together a panel of private equity experts for an in-depth discussion of private equity investing to help answer these questions. The event, hosted by Arnerich Massena at the Multnomah Athletic Club on January 31, was an interesting and informative journey into the world of private equity.
The panels were moderated by co-CIO Bryan Shipley, CFA, CAIA, and senior consultant Chris Van Dyke, CFA, CAIA, both of whom provided an introduction into the how, what, and why of including private equity in a portfolio. Panelists included Chris Heller of Cordillera Investment Partners, Jason Hilton from the Northwest Health Foundation, Mark Pyatt from Murdock Charitable Trust, and Nick Walrod of the Yarg Foundation and 3×5 Partners. The discussion addressed the myths of private equity, examined the risks, and explained the benefits. Importantly, the panel conversation dove into the nuts and bolts of how to build a successful private equity program.
