During her near-20-year tenure, Diane Kern has been integral in creating and maintaining Arnerich Massena’s renowned culture. As HR Director, she manages everything from performance reviews to benefits to employee recognition programs. That’s why, upon the announcement that she had won The Portland Business Journal’s top honor for HR professionals – the HR Leadership Award in the small business category – the whole firm was cheering her on. We know how lucky we are to have her; now the Portland business community knows too.
At the awards luncheon on October 21, The Portland Business Journal mentioned some of Diane’s particular accomplishments for which she was awarded, including her implementation of a multi-tiered review process and a training and development program. As part of Arnerich Massena’s Executive Leadership Team, Diane has provided the firm with leadership in the areas of employee development, recruiting, and retention.
Diane is very softspoken and accepted the award with a quiet dignity, thanking Tony and Christine Arnerich for making possible the extraordinary culture of the firm, and then calling out the employees for making her job meaningful. Asked what she is most proud of over her career, she immediately talks about the people she has been involved in hiring, training, mentoring, and developing.
Take a look at some of our photos from the awards luncheon below. Congratulations to Diane Kern!
