FOOD FIGHT is the Arnerich Massena I AM Learning Partnership’s year-long service learning project to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the program. The whole project is designed to help kids learn about food insecurity and what can be done to reduce the impacts of food insecurity in the community. Cooking camp will help achieve that objective by actually teaching kids how to cook!
This two-week summer camp is free to camp goers, who will learn about nutrition, cost value, and, of course, cooking. In week one alone, kids will receive visits from four local chefs from area restaurants who will provide cooking demonstrations: Bent Brick/Park Kitchen, Ned Ludd, Whole Foods Market Fremont, and Porque No Tacqueria. They will also attend a volunteer event at the Oregon Food Bank, alongside Arnerich Massena employee volunteers.
Cooking camp starts next week – June 15. We’re excited to share photos and tales as the camp progresses.
