Coquille Indian Tribe Celebrates 30th Annual Tribe Restoration Day

Arnerich Massena senior consultants Chris Van Dyke, CFA, CAIA, and James Ellis, CFA, had the honor of attending the Coquille Indian Tribe’s 30th annual Tribe Restoration Day on Saturday, June 29 in Bandon, Oregon. This event was a special celebration marking 30 years since the Coquille Tribe was officially recognized by the U.S. Congress.

The Coquille Indian Tribe was deprived of federal recognition in 1954 but on June 28, 1989, Congress restored their status as a sovereign Indian Nation. The Tribe celebrated its first annual salmon ceremony in 1988 and continues to celebrate annually each June 28. The festivities this year featured an amazing salmon bake, a Potlatch (a tradition of gift giving), and an Honoring. Thank you to the Tribe for allowing us to be part of the celebration!
