With just a few days before the event, TEDx Portland has announced the addition of a surprise speaker to the already-stellar lineup of speakers and performers. Renowned rapper Macklemore will be taking the stage at the Keller Auditorium on April 12. Fans are going wild with excitement at the chance to hear from the Seattle native who has become one of America’s hottest hip hop artists.
Nominated for seven awards at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, Macklemore and his production partner Ryan Lewis have produced chart-topping music, including two #1 singles, “Thrift Shop” and “Can’t Hold Us.” Their music defies explanation, being at once edgy and deeply sincere. Macklemore’s Facebook page offers an apt description: “Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ music is distinct for channeling cultural moments and refreshingly self-aware testimony through candid lyricism and expertly crafted composition.”
As a TEDx sponsor, we are so pleased to play a role in helping to bring TEDx to Portland and are even more thrilled and energized by this new announcement. We are looking forward eagerly to this year’s TEDx Portland event, and will report back on the “ideas worth spreading” we encounter there.
