Samantha Pettit joins Arnerich Massena as a business development associate. She will be assisting the business development team with marketing, RFPs, and events. What is your favorite restaurant in Portland?
I have only been here a year, so I am still exploring, but so far, The Matador is my favorite (you can find it at NW 23rd and Quimby). They have a great Happy Hour and margaritas – try the nachos with chicken on the Happy Hour menu, which have the best seasoning ever.
What is a book you’ve recently read and enjoyed?
How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Ideas by David Bornstein. It’s about how people around the world are solving issues in their communities in creative ways, some with almost no resources. For instance, one story is about a youth group started in India to provide activities other than trouble for young citizens, which ended up becoming a huge influence in the community and for the participants.
What is your favorite film?
Batman. It’s a movie that I can watch over and over!
What’s the strangest job you’ve ever had?
One summer, I worked for my dad in an airplane hangar. My job was to insulate it using spray foam insulation!
Where is your favorite place to which you’ve traveled?
Vancouver, Canada: I was surprised how much I loved it!
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Italy, for the history and the food.
Do you have a favorite hobby?
Hiking with my dog is my first choice, soccer a close second.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
In order to progress, do well at your current job.
What would a perfect day look like for you?
Wake up early, go hiking, have brunch, have a relaxing afternoon, go on an adventure like paddle boarding or kayaking, have a late dinner, and stay up late watching movies.
If you could have one superpower, what would you choose?
The ability to be multiple places at once.
