Arnerich Massena Becomes a Signatory of the United Nations-Supported Principles for Responsible Investment

02/25/2019

Arnerich Massena is excited to announce that the firm has become a signatory of the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), a public demonstration of the firm’s commitment to responsible investment.

The Principles for Responsible Investment is the world’s leading global network for investors and financial industry organizations that are committed to integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into their investment practices and ownership policies. An independent, international body, the UN-supported PRI engages with global policymakers to develop a sustainable global financial system that rewards long-term responsible investment that benefits the environment and society as a whole. It is supported by, but is not part of, the United Nations. Signatories to the Principles for Responsible Investment agree to follow six foundational principles:

  • Principle 1: We will incorporate ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes.
  • Principle 2: We will be active owners and incorporate ESG issues into our ownership policies and practices.
  • Principle 3: We will seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest.
  • Principle 4: We will promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry.
  • Principle 5: We will work together to enhance our effectiveness in implementing the Principles.
  • Principle 6: We will each report on our activities and progress towards implementing the Principles.

“The Principles for Responsible Investment align perfectly with our own outlook and intentions,” said CEO and co-CIO Tony Arnerich. “We have understood for a long time the importance of responsible investing, and are dedicated to helping investors understand the long-term benefits. Our research into impact and ESG investing demonstrates why this approach is both good for the world and also presents a tremendous opportunity for investors.”

Co-CIO Bryan Shipley, CFA, CAIA adds, “We have spent ten years focusing research and attention in this area. Becoming a signatory to the Principles for Responsible Investment is a natural step for us, and we are excited to become part of the global community fostering responsible investing. We fully support the PRI’s mission and principles, and look forward to collaborating with other organizations that have also adopted these important tenets.”

“We are very pleased to welcome Arnerich Massena to the PRI,” said CEO Fiona Reynolds. “Their long-standing commitment to sustainable investing is to be applauded and we look forward to working with them in the coming months.”

By becoming a UN-supported PRI signatory, Arnerich Massena has confirmed the company’s declaration of the principles and has committed to ongoing reporting of their responsible investment activity through the PRI’s reporting framework. The firm will work with the PRI’s network of international investors to assist in building a framework for aligning investment practices with ESG factors.

Arnerich Massena began researching, studying, and making ventures into sustainable and impact investing back in 2009, and now offers a complete multi-asset class strategy focused on impact investing, as well as a menu of impact-oriented investments to fit different investor profiles and portfolio needs. The firm’s goal is to offer access to the remarkable opportunities available in impact investing in a thoughtful, disciplined manner, and to help educate investors about the long-term benefits of incorporating impact and ESG factors into an investment strategy.
