Matt Sampson, CFP®, CEPA®

Senior Investment Advisor

A lifelong learner, Matt is committed to ensuring his clients are kept abreast of the ever-changing wealth planning and investment landscape. He brings a thorough understanding of complex planning strategies and prides himself on helping clients understand the tradeoffs pertaining to their personal situation. Matt believes that wealth planning is an ongoing process that develops as the goals and life circumstances of his clients change.

As a Senior Investment Advisor, Matt develops and executes client investment programs and manages client portfolios. He also advises Arnerich Massena clients in financial planning and specialty areas, serving as a technical expert and resource on matters of equity compensation, retirement, strategic gifting, and tax planning. He develops customized in-depth analysis of each client’s unique financial situation, and partners with each client’s professional advisory team (often tax, estate, and insurance advisors) to implement their strategy.

Matt’s financial industry experience spans more than ten years, during which he has been a financial planner with Ferguson Wellman Capital Management and First Republic Bank, in addition to working in client advisory capacities with Brighton Jones and Summitry Wealth.

Matt earned his Bachelor’s in finance from San Jose State University and is a Certified Financial Planner. While studying for his CFP at UC Berkeley, Matt served on the student advisory board of the financial planning program. Matt is also a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA®), a credential demonstrating expertise in engaging with business owners around growth and exit strategies, helping to build more valuable companies and have stronger long-term financial plans.

Matt is a member of the Rotary Club of Portland, serving on the trust budget committee. He is also involved with the U40 (under 40) program, which exists to help service-minded and leadership-focused professionals develop the skills to become the next generation of Portland leaders in business and philanthropy. Matt also serves as an ambassador board member for College Possible Oregon, whose goal is to make college admission and success possible for low-income students through an intensive curriculum of coaching and support.

Matt and his wife live in Happy Valley with their two daughters and Labradane. A lover of the great outdoors, Matt and his family can be found exploring all the Pacific Northwest has to offer from hiking and golf, to water and snow sports.
