“All of these women have self-selected into an industry that is traditionally heavily male-dominated, and they bring a level of confidence and competence that is inspiring,” says Arnerich Massena Co-CEO Reegan Rae, CPWA®, describing the women on Arnerich Massena’s team for the Portland Monthly’s feature, Women Who Move the City. The magazine is showcasing Portland’s female game-changers and industry shapers in this month’s issue, and Arnerich Massena’s feminine contingent makes a strong showing, particularly in an industry that has historically consisted mostly of men.
The firm is unique in that a balance of men and women has been a feature of the company since its founding in 1991. In the financial industry, only 6% of CEOs and 15% of advisors are women. But Arnerich Massena believes that having both genders on an advisory team better serves our clients. “Research is fairly consistent about how men and women invest differently,” Reegan says in the Portland Monthly article, “and we have found that different voices bring up different ideas and concerns, all of which can be meaningful in improving long-term outcomes.” It’s exciting to see our team and story spotlighted.
While we invest in building a balanced team now, we are also investing in the next generation of female financial professionals. This year, Arnerich Massena became the inaugural Oregon sponsor of non-profit Rock the Street, Wall Street (RTSWS), which provides financial and investment education to high school girls to spark their interest in finance. Firm volunteers will deliver RTSWS’s financial literacy program to Portland’s Grant High School, connecting girls with female finance professionals to teach about investing and provide mentorship and inspiration. We look forward to helping to foster the expansion of women in financial services careers.
