first glance, it might look like a new set of solar panels going up at this Northeast Portland office building, but take a closer look and you’ll notice these panels look a little different,” begins KGW environmental reporter Keely Chalmers, who came out to the 3×5 Partners/Fishpeople Seafood building to report on the installation of three Zero Mass Water hydropanels. She interviewed Tony Arnerich, managing partner of 3×5, about the Source hydropanels and Zero Mass Water’s revolutionary work. In the interview, Tony explains how the solar panels create drinking water out of the humidity in the air using only solar electricity.

“We’re really excited to bring this technology to the world and to Portland,” Tony notes “We’re generating water for about 10 cents a liter over the life of the panel.” Keely Chalmers notes that the hydropanels are now installed in more than 15 countries and are currently providing clean drinking water to schools, orphanages, and homes. She interviews Fishpeople employee Kipp Baratoff, who has been drinking the water from a first-generation hydropanel for a couple of years already and remarked, “I feel like we’re helping the planet in some small way.”

Zero Mass Water is one of the private equity investments in 3×5 Partners, an Arnerich Massena Approved Manager.
